There is something about the promise of spring that makes me want to do things. Here’s what I’ve been up to lately 🙂
Airbrushing.. Oh lord, what a headache. I’m still struggling so hard with the varnishes, and I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I’ve had a chat with a couple of airbrush users and I did get some tips, but I’m still having issues.
With Vallejo matt varnish, I’m not getting any tooth at all, which makes me believe that it’s not actually coating the doll at all, or very little. It also flaked off down to the “skin” of the doll when I tried to erase a mistake.
I’m having more success with the Liquitex method, but the surface looks almost fuzzy, and I’m having a hard time erasing mistakes or removing excess pastels. Liquitex is still the one that works best for me, because at least it gives me some tooth. I wish Vallejo worked for me as it doesn’t need to be thinned, so I feel there is less chance of errors. I will keep trying though 🙂

I really like her, I’m not good at drawing eyeshapes so for this one I tried replicating a shape Andreja did on one of her dolls, an I love the result 🙂 She may be my favorite MH doll 😀
And as I’m testing varnishes, I decided to go a little wild with the faceups too! I’ve always loved soft brown and pink tones in my faceups, because I’ve always had so many issues working with crazy colors, but I figured I didn’t have too much to lose right now. I had wiped my Frankie doll’s faceup a while ago, and I tried giving her a new face, this is a WIP picture:
This was so much fun to do, even if there are so many errors 🙂 I swear her eyes looked so symmetrical when I sealed them the first time, but as I kept working on her I saw that they were in fact not symmetrical at ALL! I’m also working on a Rochelle, and I have the same issue with her. I don’t mind too much right now, since I’m just having some fun and testing things out. More photos to follow I hope, unless something goes terribly wrong and I have to remove everything XD
I was also lucky enough to go treasure hunting in my aunts attic. She had some boxes that belongs to me there, and I found all my old my little ponies. They were in worse shape than I remembered, but it felt amazing to see them all again. I brought home one small pony that I cleaned, I think her name is heart throb, and I remember I loved her so much (and it shows). All my ponies were played with, so none of them are perfect. I even found my old Megan, but she is missing a shoe :/
These are not all of them, I have 3 brothers and 3 sister ponies as well, and you can kind of see Megan in the background there. I also have 3 very tiny baby ponies 🙂
I could only find tail rust on one of them, which I believe is baby cotton candy. You can see little heart throb to the right of the bride pony, you can see her hair is standing straight up!
Her hair got a nice treatment and looks way better now 🙂 The does have a scratch on her cheek blushing, as well as some spots here and there. My favorite pony was Firefly, and this girl reminded me of her for some reason, so she has been played with so much.
I want to get more of the ponies back home so I can try and remove any spots and stuff, and I should probably help the one with tail rust too! I think it may be a good idea to open up my sea pony, because she has been in water there might be mold inside. I’m really scared of opening up the ponies, a part of me wants to inspect every pony to look for mold, but I’m not sure if it is a good idea.
Anyway, that is what I’ve been up to ^^ I hope everyone had a magical easter/holiday, I hope to have more faceups to show you soon!

More Rochelle
Her hair was boiled, and I removed her factory paint 🙂
I have to admit, I think she’s my favorite girl right now. That hair is magic! To think I’ve been cutting the hair off on almost all of them because I thought it wasn’t possible to get it to an acceptable state. I’m still planning on trying out re-rooting, but I doubt I’ll find it very enjoyable 😛 This girl however, will be keeping her gorgeous hair!
May’s tracking still hasn’t updated, so my bunny is still traveling.

Since I’ve whined a bit about May being so delayed and stuff, I figured it was time for something more uplifting 😛
I bid on a Rochelle on eBay that I’ve seen customized by the lovely Andreja, I wouldn’t even had known about this version if it wasn’t for her custom. She is from a set of 2 dolls, but I only wanted Rochelle, so I bid on her and won.
She came without any clothes and stuff, but the main reason I wanted her was her hair, it’s a gorgeous color! Mint with pink ;D
I hope I can be forgiven for this terrible photo, it does not do her any justice! I’ve boiled her hair since this photo was taken, and it’s currently drying 🙂 I really need to start collecting info on airbrushes, because I now have 3 blank Rochelles sitting on my shelf ^^
She really is stunning though, worth every penny in my opinion.
A little bit of cleaning
It’s hard to show off my dolls sometimes, since it’s always so messy around here.
I have my three MSD’s and some Monster High dolls on one of my shelves, and I decided to do a tinsy bit of cleaning. I’m planning on fixing the entire shelf, my pukifee and puki also need a little spot to call their own 🙂 I also have a ton of blank MH dolls that’ll need some space once I get around to painting them 😛
Anyway, I took a couple of pics. I used flash, so they aren’t particularly warm 😛 Still, I thought it would be fun to show how it looks.
Lets see.. In the “back row” is Caterine Demew, Twyla, Frankie, Draculaura, my obitsu hybrid, and another Draculaura. The two on the left front are Rochelle and Jane Boolittle. To the far right I also have my two Sonny Angels, and in the middle there is a Fluttershy Funko Pop.
Phew! So many. I apologize for the paper things in the photo on the far right, I had nowhere else to put them yet 😛
They do sort of hide Fluttershy and my nice little boxes, I’ll have to get them another spot to sit later.

And lastly I wanted to show off some goods I got from my good friend ages ago, I’m so sorry I haven’t taken proper pics of them yet! They are some beautifully made clay foods for my dollies! 🙂
She even made the little plates (they have some gold around the edges that don’t show up here) and everything is so well made. There are spiderweb cakes (the big one on the right is for the MSD girls to enjoy) and little brownies with halloween themed toppings (ghosts, pumpkins and bats!)
I’m kind of hording things to put in my dollhouse when it is complete (have a feeling it’ll take 10 years) so everything like this just makes me so happy. The little rug that my girls are sitting on in the pics above was made for the dollhouse 🙂 Weaved it myself and everything 😛
Aren’t the little cakes amazing though? I hope to make some halloween decorations and stuff so one day I can take halloween pics inside the dollhouse 😀

Long time, finally something new :)
Finally something new to show on my blog. You may remember my very first monster high doll, a Draculaura. The poor thing has had tons of faceups since I got her, and she had gotten badly stained around the eyes and mouth :S
I decided it was time to see if she could be saved, and I’m very pleased with the results! She was orange and pink around her eyes and eyebrows, and her mouth was a bit messed up, so I tried my hardest to cover all that.
I’ll admit that she’s becoming my favorite MH doll 🙂 Isn’t she adorable?
Easter delay
Unfortunately I didn’t get Chloe before easter, she is already in Norway and was on her way to my town, but there was no movement with mail from thursday to monday (today) so I’m just crossing my fingers that she’ll be home with me tomorrow. Wednesday at the latest.
I’m going to take box opening pics, I’m really excited about that 🙂 It’s been so long since the last box opening! I’ve actually had several dreams during easter about picking her up from the post office, lol ^^ I’ve gathered some clothes, and today I’m going to prepare some wigs and eyes as well. I like having stuff laid out in advance. I’m going to collect some faceup inspiration pics today I think, but I already have a good idea of how I want her to look. Sometimes I get carried away when doing faceups and end up with something completely different, so it’s always fun to see how it goes.
I’m also hoping that Fairyland will ship my tan girl this week. I was disappointed that they didn’t ship her during last week like they told me in the emails, but since she is tan I’d rather they didn’t rush too much. They have stated in the past that tan is hard to work with, and I know tan dolls often have more imperfections. I can’t wait to meet her though. I’m working on a second puki wig, so both my little ones have nicely fitting wigs 🙂 I’m also playing with the idea of making tiny dresses for them soon. The weather is getting warmer and that always makes me want to dress my smallest ones in dresses! I want to make shorts for Kira and Chloe, but I’m not good with pants patterns..
I was planning to take a couple pics of my finished monster high dolls but I haven’t had the time yet. I only have 4 girls painted, I do have two that are almost done but I’m thinking of re-doing them. I do have a couple of photos from my phone to show though:
My dollhouse! Mom worked on it this easter, just laying down a layer of primer so get it ready for painting and customising. I’m really excited, I need to start researching how to put in lights, and look into what I want each room to look like. I think I want one of the top rooms to be a little shabby chic, lots of white and pastels.

My finished Frankie. She isn’t green like Frankie usually is, she is from the black and white series. I still really want a green Frankie one day 🙂 But the prices for these girls have gotten higher here in Norway lately, so I think I’m going to have to turn to ebay eventually. But then again, shipping from the states have gotten insane, so I might not save that much.
Well, that’s it. Hopefully tomorrow I can show off my new minifee 🙂 Cant wait to see the Moe body!

I’ve wanted to try and make wigs for ages, though I know I wont be very good at it, I decided to start trying. I’m hoping I’ll get better with practice, but I think I may need some other glue. Here is what I have so far:

I’ve removed her faceup now, the black did not take well to my acetone, but I’m hoping it’ll even out with MSC.
