I’ve been wanting to make wigs for the longest time, but alpaca sure is expensive.
I tried ramie, a cheaper alternative, but honestly I found it awful to work with despite others saying they like it. It got _everywhere_! Also, it is very short.
So I decided to try a cheaper alternative, raw alpaca. Now, I knew it would involve a lot of cleaning to get it ready, but as I’m reading about it it seems that people think it is such a huge pain and boring process, so I wonder if it’s something I’ll hate doing as well.
Only time will tell I guess, I only ordered 1 oz to begin with, and I went ahead and ordered some dye as well, so at the very least I can make a little wig for Litja 🙂 She hasn’t gotten anything new in some time, so it will be fun to bond with her while making her a cute little wig, and learning all about alpaca cleaning, dyeing and wig making with her by my side.
I hope the materials get here soon, so we can start this mess of a project ^^
